Permanent employee, Full-time · Piracicaba, Brazil

The location of the job description was changed to on-site, Piracicaba (Sao Paulo, Brazil) after careful consideration of our needs and how we can best address our science and research projects to tackle climate change.

We are an impact driven, remote-first, AgTech start up headquartered in Germany and Brazil with the goal to reverse climate change and make tropical agriculture more regenerative, low-carbon and sustainable. We are working with Enhanced Rock Weathering in tropical agriculture, currently with focus on Brazil. We do that to create a liveable planet for future generations and, in specific, to regenerate soils and ecosystems, grow nutritious food, increase food security and sovereignty in the tropics. Our stakeholders and clients are from all over the world, and we are committed to diversity, equity and inclusion. Our Mission is to enable farmers in the tropics to replace synthetic fertilisers, pesticides and limestone with (silicate) rock powder from local mines.

As a Soil Scientist you will be responsible for researching and understanding the all relevant components of Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) in tropical soils with a special focus on soil, rock, plant and climate interactions. You will design and manage experiments to generate novel insights about the manyfold interactions in tropical soil.

Your experiments will contribute to effectively monitoring the impact of ERW on the soils mineralogy, biota. Your key goal will be to co-create a robust and reliable methodology to measure carbon removal. You will also be responsible to iteratively improve our model for world-class simulation, monitoring and verification of ERW. You will be a key player in our world-class science team and cooperate with global leaders of various universities and research initiatives. To fulfil this role you’ll bring a combination of top-notch science expertise, precision, focus, hands-on mentality, positive energy and the ability to drive things forward.

  • You generate, analyse and interpret data about soil sciences and biology
